You've Got to Try These San Diego Surefire Bets to Make Lifelong Memories

San Diego — Tourist Guide | Planet of Hotels

There are many things you can do in San Diego to make memories that last a lifetime

With the exception of the Midway Museum, all of the theme parks and attractions listed below are day-long experiences. Enjoy a full day of sunshine by wearing comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and smiling!

LEGOLAND CALIFORNIA

Over 60 interactive attractions and shows are available at LEGOLAND California, a 128-acre theme park. The majority of them are geared toward families with children two to twelve years old, and even some of them are kid-powered.

There are seven slides at LEGOLAND Water Park, as well as a lazy river where you can build your own LEGO-themed raft. The SEA LIFE Aquarium is a great place to see sea stars, sharks, and stingrays!

Enjoy the full LEGO experience by staying at the nation's first LEGOLAND Hotel, featuring 250 LEGO-themed rooms.

SAN DIEGO ZOO

With 650 rare and exotic species and 3500 animals in a beautiful 100-acre tropical garden, our Zoo is one of the world's most popular attractions. Spectacular bioclimatic exhibits, such as Monkey Trails, Lost Forest, Elephant Odyssey, Gorilla Tropics, Sun Bear Forest, and Tiger River house endangered species in enclosures modeled after their natural habitats. Visitors to the new Wildlife Explorers Basecamp (which replaces the former Children's Zoo) can also get up-close to zoo critters and enjoy extensive interactive play areas.

As well as viewing the animal collection, don't miss out on the guided bus tour, the sky tram, and the children's petting zoo and baby animal nursery.

SAN DIEGO ZOO SAFARI PARK

Wild Animal Park was formerly known as the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where you can experience nature up close and personal. Over the 1800 acres of this preserve, animals from Africa and Asia roam free as they would in their native habitats. Experience the unique field exhibit of rhinos, giraffes, antelope, gazelles, and more with the Africa Tram Safari.

With its prime location 30 miles northeast of downtown in San Diego's north inland region, San Pasqual Valley Park is easily accessible. You can witness a cheetah running at full speed, a lion charging at full speed, or majestic eagles, noble owls, or rare Andean condors while wearing comfortable walking shoes.

SEAWORLD SAN DIEGO

SeaWorld San Diego, located along Mission Bay, offers even more magic. With dozens of exhibits featuring marine life from around the world, this park offers spectacular animal shows and presentations. Dolphins and sloths provide lifelong memories during encounters. Its world-famous Penguin Encounter allows guests to see six species of penguins waddling and swimming in their 25-degree habitat. Wild Arctic invites you to take a journey into the frozen north to see beluga whales, Arctic sea otters, and walruses. Visit Turtle Reef to immerse yourself in the world of sea turtles. A 280000-gallon aquarium with over a dozen threatened sea turtles, a game that teaches kids about turtle threats, and a map that tracks rehabilitated turtles is housed here.

SESAME PLACE SAN DIEGO

An eighteen-ride park featuring 11 aquatic rides welcomes families to the new theme park with its Sesame Street theme. There is no other park like Sesame Place on the West Coast, boasting a kid-friendly roller coaster and a 500000-gallon wave pool. San Diego's SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment park, in the South Bay area, is also a Certified Autism Center run by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment.

USS MIDWAY MUSEUM

This maritime treasure can be found along the Embarcadero at the USS Midway Museum. The carrier has served in the U.S. Navy for the longest period of time in the 20th century. During a guided audio tour, you'll see the massive engine room, sleeping quarters, galley, brig, and more. Among the more than 20 aircraft on the 4-acre flight deck, climb-aboard cockpits and flight simulators are popular with kids of all ages. The child's audio guide tour should include content geared specifically for 7- to 12-year-olds.

DAY TRIP TO DISNEYLAND

In addition to visiting the city's attractions, Disneyland can be reached within a few hours by car from San Diego. By car or train, the Magic Kingdom can be reached within 90 minutes of downtown San Diego. Enjoy a relaxing day on the beach after a day of rides and recreation in San Diego.
